Introducing BolKhata

An agentic voice ledger that keeps your books straight as you speak. An agentic voice ledger that keeps your books straight as you speak.

Describe any transaction in one spoken sentence. BolKhata identifies the party, posts double-entry journal items, tracks receivables, and reconciles your cash balance before you close.

A demonstration: the spoken sentence “Bilal paid four thousand five hundred toward last month's bill.” becomes a receipt of Rs. 4,500 against Bilal Traders, moving the cash balance from Rs. 18,400 to Rs. 22,900.

What it looks like on the counter.

The same trading day as everywhere else on this page — 18 August, opening Rs. 18,400, closing Rs. 24,710 — drawn as the product draws it.

The BolKhata day book: seven entries for 18 August, money in and out in separate columns, and a running balance closing at Rs. 24,710.

A phone mid-entry: a waveform recording, the spoken sentence transcribed beneath it, and the posting the agent resolved from it, ready to approve.

A WhatsApp thread: the reminder BolKhata drafted, with the party statement attached, and the customer's reply promising payment tomorrow.

The receivables screen: Rs. 21,700 outstanding across five parties, one due today with a reminder button, one six days overdue.

Method

Three steps, and one of them is yours.Three steps, and one of them is yours.

Entries go missing at the counter, not at the desk — recording them interrupts the sale. BolKhata asks for the sentence you were going to say anyway and handles the rest.

  1. 01Speak

    Describe the transaction

One sentence in plain language, at the counter, while the customer is still standing there. No form to open and no fields to fill.

  2. 02Resolve

    The agent resolves it

It identifies the party, the amount, the direction the money moved, and the account it belongs in. Where something is genuinely ambiguous, it asks a single question.

  3. 03Post

    It posts and reconciles

The entry lands in a double-entry ledger. Balances update, receivables begin their clock, and the day is reconciled before you close.

One entry, end to end

From a sentence to both sides of the book.

Bilal settles part of an invoice at the counter. Three stages, one sentence, and nothing typed.

Every entry below came from a spoken sentence, except the rent — a standing instruction the agent posts on its own. Opening balance plus money in, less money out, lands exactly on the closing figure.

Follow-up

What it sends when the money is late. What it sends when the money is late.

Ayesha's crates went out on 18 August at net 30, so they fall due on 17 September. That morning the agent writes the reminder from the receivable itself and hands it to you. It goes over WhatsApp, from your own number, once you have read it.

You say

“Remind Ayesha about the crates.”

The agent writes it. Sending it is still your decision.

  • The list writes itself

Reminders come off the receivables already in your book — who is due, for how much, since when. There is no second list of debtors to keep up to date.

  • Nothing sends until you say so

The agent writes the draft and stops. You read it, change it if you want, and send it. There is no setting that lets it message a customer on its own.

  • It goes out from your own number

The message lands in the thread the customer already has with your shop. No short code, no unfamiliar sender, nothing that reads as a robot chasing them.

  • A reply is not a receipt

Her promise is filed against the follow-up, not posted as money. The receivable keeps running and the balance does not move until cash actually arrives.

Oversight

An agent you can audit. An agent you can audit.

An agent writing to your books is only acceptable if you can see what it did, correct it, and take the whole record elsewhere. All three are built in.

  • AUDIT GUARANTEE

    Every entry cites its source

Open any posting to read the sentence that created it, word for word, beside the entry it produced.

  • AUDIT GUARANTEE

    Corrections are spoken too

Say what was wrong. The agent re-posts and records the correction in the audit trail rather than overwriting the original.

  • AUDIT GUARANTEE

    Large entries wait for approval

Set an amount above which nothing posts automatically. Entries over the threshold are held, with the reason shown.

  • AUDIT GUARANTEE

The ledger is yours to take

Export the complete book whenever you like, in formats that will outlast any single application — including this one.

Why we built it

A ledger is a record of what happened. It should be as easy to make as saying what happened.

Questions

Before you let it write anything. Before you let it write anything.

The six things people ask when software offers to keep their books for them.

  • The entry is shown to you with the sentence it came from before the day closes, and you correct it by speaking the correction. The original posting is not overwritten — the correction is recorded beside it, so the trail stays honest.

Early access

  • The phone you already have

No terminal, no card reader, nothing to install at the counter. If it can take a call, it can take an entry.

  • Set up in one sitting

Your parties and opening balances go in once, with us on the call. Roughly an hour, and then you are just talking.

  • A person, not a form

Pilot businesses get a name and a number. Corrections and questions go to someone who can answer them.

  • Leave without asking

Export the whole book in open formats, whenever you like, for any reason. Nothing is held to keep you here.
